Conception Abbey & Seminary Library provides access to a wide variety of computer-based resources and services for the monks of Conception Abbey and the students, faculty, and staff of Conception Seminary Library.

OCLC FirstSearch

OCLC FirstSearch is a comprehensive and complete reference service with a rich collection of databases and with links to the World Wide Web, over 5.9 million online full text articles, full-image articles from over 3,500 electronic journals, library holdings, and interlibrary loan. It supports research in a wide range of subject areas with well-known bibliographic and full-text databases in addition to ready-reference tools such as directories, almanacs and encyclopedias.

EBSCOhost

EBSCOhost splits into several databases, including Academic Search Premier, Master FILE Elite, Health Source - Nursing/Academic Edition, Health Source - Consumer Edition, Alt HealthWatch, EBSCO Animals, Military & Government Collection, Clinical Pharmacology, Communication & Mass Media Complete, and the American Humanities Index. The researcher can use one or more of these databases combined as she or he desires.

Academic Search Premier is the world's largest academic multi-disciplinary database, Academic Search Premier provides full text for nearly 4,000 scholarly publications, including full text for more than 3,100 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1975. This database is updated on a daily basis via EBSCO host.

MasterFILE Elite is designed specifically for public libraries, this multidisciplinary database provides full text for more than 1,150 general reference publications with coverage dating as far back as 1984. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Elite also includes 40 full text reference books and an Image Collection of 107,000 photos, maps and flags. This database is updated daily via EBSCOhost.

The American Humanities Index is a collection of bibliographic references to literary, scholarly and creative journals published in the United States and Canada. This database covers over 1,000 journals published from 1975 to the present and provides citation information for articles, essays and reviews, as well as original creative works including, poems, fiction, photographs, paintings and illustrations.

Oxford Reference Online

The Core Collection of Oxford Reference Online contains about 100 dictionary, language reference, and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press. It is a fully-indexed, cross-searchable database of these books, giving subscribers access to a comprehensive information resource.

Britannica Online

EBOnline includes the complete encyclopedia, as well as Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and the Britannica Book of the Year. You can also use EB Online to search an Internet Directory that includes more than 130,000 links to Web sites selected, rated, and reviewed by Britannica editors. Through this service, you can find more than 72,000 articles, updated and revised by EB editors and contributors; over 10,000 illustrations, including photographs, drawings, maps, and flags; and more than 75,000 definitions--including pronunciation guides and word histories--from Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.

Philosopher's Index

Philosopher's Index is a subject and author index to philosophical articles, anthologies, contributions to anthologies, and books. Only one user on our campus may access the database at a time. Please log off when you are finished with your session. The database is updated quarterly.

Newsbank

Newsbank accesses complete full-text content of local and regional news, including community events, schools, politics, government policies, cultural activities, local companies, state industries, and people in the community. Paid advertisements are excluded. Coverage includes News Missouri (1997--Current), MOREnet Full-Text Newspapers, the Kansas City Star (1991--Current), the Newsleader (Springfield, MO) (1991--Current), and the Saint Louis Post Dispatch (1988--Current), as well as other national and local papers.
