Seeking abundant life empowered by Benedictine education

Fr. Bernhard A. Eckerstorfer, OSB, was born in 1971 in Linz, Austria, and studied geography, philosophy, and theology in Salzburg, Vienna, and the United States (M.T.S., Mag., Dr. theol.). In 2000, he entered Kremsmünster Abbey and spent two years in Rome for post-doctoral studies on patristic and monastic theology. He served for 15 years as director of vocations, novice master, formation director, and spokesman of his abbey and taught at the Universities of Linz and Salzburg. His courses, lectures, and publications focus on how the Church, monastic life, and theology can both fulfill their mission in the contemporary world. Since 2020, he has been Rettore (President) of the Pontificio Ateneo Sant’Anselmo, the international Benedictine university in Rome.
